A Community-Wide Effort
to Provide a Strategic Plan
for Arts and Culture
in our Community
Cultural Planning Facility Questionaire
What role will my organization have in this study?
Arts and culture in Greater Lafayette begins with the cultural organizations.
They will be the centerpiece of and an important source of information for the
planning process. The arts and cultural organizations will serve as a feedback mechanism
as the plan unfolds. There will be several meeting opportunities for you to identify the
issues and concerns based on your knowledge and experience and this meeting will be
the first! These sessions will give you the opportunity to discuss the process with your friends, colleagues, and other interested individuals.
In addition, you can help by providing information about your group’s present
programs, audiences, services, operations and facilities. This will be done using some questionnaires– one regarding organizational matters and the other directed at facilities.
A member of the Cultural Plan Steering Committee will be available to help you expedite the process. The compiled information will be aggregated so that information about individual organizations will not be identified. There will also be other research and we will keep you
posted on that as they develop.
What will be the benefit to my organization?
The completed plan will provide a roadmap of goals and strategies that will
enhance arts and culture in Greater Lafayette and enable the arts organizations
to work together more efficiently and collaboratively. The information generated
by the plan will assist you in by providing marketing information and community
priorities.
Who is in charge of this planning effort?
The Cultural Planning Committee was formed after several years of discussion
among the various arts organizations under the umbrella of TAF, which is the
fiscal agent. Jim Bodenmiller and Sonya Margerum are the co-chairs and they
are assisted by the Steering Committee, composed of about 40 members drawn
from a cross-section of the Greater Lafayette community. They are being guided
in this process by Marc Goldring, Associate Principal of Wolf/Brown, a cultural
planning consulting company. The process will last one year.
Who is paying for this consultant?
The cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, and all of the
major arts and cultural organizations are contributing financially to this effort.
The contributions of 15 arts organizations have been matched 2:1 by the
Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette up to a maximum of $30,000.
The total cost of the consultancy is $75,000.
What will be the final product?
The final product will be a plan composed of goals and strategies for attaining
those goals based on the public process and participation. The implementation
of the plan will be up to the community to decide and act upon.
How can I get involved?
First, come to this meeting.
